CHRISTIAN SCIENCE CHURCHES

“God the Preserver of Man” was the subject of the lesson-Sernion in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday. The golden text was from Psalms 36:6. “Thy righteousness .s like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: 0 Lord, thou preserves! man and beast.” Among the citations which comprise the lesson-sermon were the following from the Bible: ‘/And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if ho have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed. Tho effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avarleth much " (James 5. 15-16.) The lesson-sermon also included the following passages from the Christian Science text book “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.” by Mary Baker Eddy. “Are we bepefitted by praying? Yes; the desire which goes forth hungering after righteousness is blessed of our Father, and it does ot return unto us void.” “The history of Christianity furnishes sublime proofs of the supporting influence and protecting power bestowed on man by his heavenly Father, omnipotent .Mind, who gives man faith and understanding whefeby to defend himself, not only from temptation, but from bodily suffering” (pp. 2, 387.)
