MAHORA SCHOOL

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. Those present at the usual monthly meeting of the Mahora School Committee were Messrs C. Lassen (chairman), J. Arrell, W. E. Riddell, R. Short, J. Wise, A. Wilkie. C. Carrell (secretary), and W. T. Chaplin (headmaster). Leave of absence was granted to Messrs J. E. Hall and R. Gray. Correspondence regarding relieving appointments was received from the Education Board, the boundary fence, and unauthorised expenditure, and a circular dealing with basketwork and other crafts was received from the Blind Institute.

The headmaster’s report showed a roll-number of 699, and an average attendance of 643. It was decided that the chairman and the secretary should meet representatives of other school committees in connection with the proposed queen carnival. A letter of thanks is to be sent by the committee to the Auckland Sunshine League for the league's action in taking care of three children who spent several months in the health camp at Motuihi Island.
