CAR AND CYCLE COLLIDE
YOUNG MAN INJURED. ACCIDENT IN HASTINGS. Injuries sustained when his motor cycle collided with a car last -evening resulted in a young man named Stenson, of Hastings, being admitted to the Napier Hospital. The collision occurred on the corner of Frederick street and Tomoana road at about 8.30 o’clock. The ear was driven by Mr H. L. Drummond, of 510 Park road, Hastings, who was going towards Karamu road, whilst the cyclist was travelling in the opposite direction. The driver of the car made every endeavour to avoid the other machine, and in doing so pulled right off the road on the grass at the side. However, a collision was unavoidable, and the motor cycle struck the right hand side of the car, the rider being flung into the roadway, where he was picked up unconscious. A doctor was summoned, and after the injured man had been attended to he was removed in the ambulance to the Napier Hospital. On inquiry at the hospital to-day it was learned that Stenson was suffering from concussion, and that his condition was satisfactory. Mr Stenson, who is a freezing worker, resides at 1021 Tomoana road, Hastings. The corner where the accident occurred is covered with loose metal, and caution is necessary in negotiating it. The car was not damaged beyond a crumpled mudguard, whilst the cycle was bent as a result of the impact. The Rev. Father Mcßrccn anointed the injured man prior to his removal to hospital.
