OPENING NIGHT HELD. RESULTS OF PLAY. The 1932 season of the Napier Chess Club was opened in the club room at the Athenaeum last evening, when a match was played between teams picked from those present by the president, Air John Mason, a former New Zealand champion, and Mr G. D. Malcolm the club captain. The evening was spent in a most enjoyable manner, the games being interesting and keenly contested It is evident that the championship congress held in Napier recently has revived an interest in the gam.-, ns a number of new members have already enrolled for the forthcoming season The annual subscription this year hai been fixed at 10/6, with a smaller fee of 5/- for junior members.
