A MYSTERIOUS FORCE

SECRET OF DIVINING DISCUSSION AT VERONA London, March 29. What is the mysterious force which enables certain people to divine the presence of subterranean waters! Interesting theories were put forward at the International Congress of Diviners at Verona, reports the Milan correspondent of the “Times,” in an attempt scientifically to interpret rabdomancy. Dr. Arnold (Switzerland) discussed the effect of radiation exercised by submarine waters on human and animal health. Dr. Beyer (Germany) said he thought the human organism acted as an electromagnetic transmitting and receiving apparatus, ascertaining the course of hidden streams. Professor Cazzamalli (Italy) said he considered that the human brain was the source of the phenomena. Dr. Cusu (Verona) maintained that any substance radiating electro-mag-netic energy produced muscular contractions resulting in the movement of the. divining rod.
