OTTAWA CONFERENCE
N.Z. PERSONNEL NOT YET DECIDED ON. COMMITTEE SET UP TO PREPARE POLICY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, March 31. The Prime Minister stated to-day that the question of tho personnel of the delegation to go to the Ottawa Conference did not arise at the meeting of the special committee of Cabinet this morning. The Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, the Hon. Downie Stewart, and the Hon. H. Masters were set up as a committee to prepare a policy for submission to the conference on behalf of New Zealand. The personnel was a matter for Cabinet. The fullest opportunity would be given for an expression of views before the committee. It was not proposed to make available for general information the policy which tho Government would draw up. The policy would be taken as a basis for negotiation with representatives of the Old Country and for argument round the table at Ottawa. He suggested that New Zealand might enter into negotiations for tariff concessions in addition to those, recently announced by Great Britain under the new preferential treatment arrangement and that Now Zealand would probably be asked what assistance she was prepared to offer in return.
