LATE CABLES IN BRIEF. British Quota of Films. The British Columbia Government intends to abandon the bill requiring a 60 per cent, quota of British films to be shown in British Columbia. This action has been forced by the Opposi. tion. Two Government supporters, Mr I. Hanna and Mr G. Walkem, declared that the bill would violate the principle of British liberty and would not foster loyalty. The British films shown here are now well acted, but lack British plot and background. Labour Affiliation. The “Daily Herald” states that following the Independent Labour Party decision in favour of conditional affiliation to the Labour Party, 70 members of the conference decided to form a dis-affiliation committee, aiming at a revolutionary policy. :
