The cable office at Wellington is being closed down. A decision was made recently to close the Wellington office of the Eastern Extension Australasia and China Telegraph Co., Ltd., and therefore both cables connecting Wellington with Sydney will be disconnected. The cable at present in use bo tween Auckland and Sydney is a much faster one than that between Wellington and Sydney, and it is believed that the efficient service will not be impaired by the closing down of the Wellington offee
