KAIWAKA BEATS ESKDALE On Saturday last a cricket match was played between the Kaiwaka and Eskdale clubs, on the latter’s ground. A very enjoyable game, materially assisted by an excellent afternoon tea provided by the home ladies, resulted in Kaiwaka winning by 160 runs ano two wickets on the first innings Eskdale batted first for 94, S. Aymes 24, J Berrie 21 and N. Wallace 14 batting well. Kaiwaka replied with 244 for eight wickets to which L. Fletcher contributed a splendid 96, S. Pepper 30 not out, C Sigvertsen 25. C. McKay 22, I. Proctor 12 not out and L Collins 11, all showed good form Kaiwaka’s best bowlers were, Collins three wickets for 11 runs, J. Proctor two for eight and Sigvertson three for 17. Eskdale’s most successful trundlers were M. Smith three wickets for 51, and Aymes three for 60.
