EAST COAST CENTRE EASTER TOURNEY FINALS. SIXTEEN HEADS PLAYED. The final games of the East Coast Bowling Centre’s tournament were played on the Napier Club’s green yesterday in beautiful autumn weather. The greens were m very excellent playing order and very interesting games were played. Post sectional play resulted in D’Anvers (Omaraitui), being defeated by Forsyth (Wairere) 22—19, and Benson (Waipawa) by McLeay (Port Ahuriri), 22—18. In the semi-finals, McLeay met Maher (St. Leonards) and won by 21 —14., Forsyth beating Kruse (Hastings), 21—17. The final game between McLeay and Forsyth was commenced, and some very interesting heads were witnessed. At six o’clock owing to the failing light, it was decided to finish the game this afternoon at four o’clock. The scores at the 16th head read. 18—15, in Wairere’s favour.
BURTON CUP TOURNEY. The Gisborne Bowling Centre’s Eastter tournament for the Burton Cup was to conclude yesterday. Section play was completed on Monday, leaving the following to play off ia the semifinals to-day:— Bragg (Kahutia), A section. Armstrong (Gisborne), B sectiou, Engebretsen (Gisborne) aad rflrray (Gisborne), C section D. G. Robertson (Poverty Bay), D section. Parkinson (Hastings) won four and lost two games in his section. NORTH ISLAND RINKS. SEMI-FINALS REACHED. Palmerston N., March 29. Semi-finalists in the North Island rink tourney arc: Arnott (Palmerston North), Olney (Manawatu), J. A. Nash (Palmerston North), Mattar (Foxton).
