PIGS FOR BRITAIN
IMPORTATIONS FROM CANADA. The success of importations of Tamworth pigs from Canada into Great Britain is commented on by the secretary of the National Pig Breeders’ Association, which organisation imported a number of these pigs in 1930 on behalf of a number of breeders. The satisfactory breeding records of the sows are proved by tho imported sow Dollar Verna, owned by Mr. C. L. Coxon, Herefordshire. The last three litters of this sow totalled 27 pigs born, and 25 reared. Her latest litter of nine pigs reached tho excellent weight of 4521 b. at ten weeks of age, or an average of more than 501 b. per pig. A daughter of this sow, also in Mr. Coxon’s herd, is rearing ten good pigs, while another daughter, Milton Verna HI., from Dollar Verna’s first litter, born in this country on January 31, 1930, and bought as a wcaiier by Colonel C. J. H. Wheatley, is a noted winner. Milton Verna lll.’s winnings for Colonel Wheatley in 1931 include first, and champion nt the Bath ami West and Shropshire shows, first anil reserve female ami supreme chat the H.A.S.E. show, ami I- i 'reserve champion at the < tics show.
