Clubhouse for Maraenui.

The erection of a club house for the Maraenui Golf Club is to be commenced immediately, a contract for the work having been let to Messrs F. and K. Smith at a price of £450. The building is to be two-storeyed, the ground floor being used for a basement to accommodate equipment and the upper floor as a common-room, a ladies’ room, a men’s room and a spacious balcony. It is hoped that the club-house will be ready for occupation by the end of next month. Burglaries During Easter. There have been several cases of breaking and entering in Napier during the Easter holidays, there being no fewer than three premises entered and goods or money stolon. The drapery establishment of Mr M. S. Simmonds, in Latham street, was entered and goods to the value of about £2G taken. Entrance was gained to the shop by means of taking a pane of glass out of the window. The shop adjoining, Smith’s Supply Store, was also visited during the holidays when the occupants were away, and some £2O worth of tobacco and cigarettes was stolen. Another ease of burglary occurred on Sunday night, when the laundry of Ah Wee, in Dalton street, was entered and a few pounds stolen from the till.
