The authorities for unemployment re'ief have decreed, that all applicants or relief, must help themselves by gariening. As an outcome of the meeting •onvened by the Mayor, a civic comnittee has been appointed to help the Hastings workless to carry out the mandate. As a preliminary step an appeal (see advertisement) is made to owners of vacant sections in the Borough, who are not. likely to use this land before the end of April 1933, to give the use of their sections for the purpose. A request is also made for donations of seeds and tools. If possible, the committee would like to hear from donors by Monday next the 15th inst. Communications can be sent to either Mr. H. R. French, chairman, or to Mr.'Brinsley, bon. secretary, or to the “Tribune” office.
