BOARD'S NEW SCHEME. WORK ON FIVE DAYS A WEEK. By Telegraph—Press Association Tauranga, Feb. 1. A letter to local bodies supervising unemployed relief work in this district from Mr. E. H. Birchall, investigating officer of the Unemployment Board, seta out a new scheme which, it is under•tood, the board intends to apply to all districts through the Dominion The communication states that all men employed on No. 5 scheme shad work five days, or forty hours, from Monday until Friday evening to earn relief pay. In the event of a worker not completing the full time the relief granted is to be computed proportionately. Provision is made to prevent a worker from being penalised through accepting private employment.
