1932 VITAL STATISTICS THE CHRISTCHURCH RECORDS Christchurch, Jan. 31. Customs returns for January as compared with the same month of 1931 were: — 1932: net customs, £08,826; beer duty £5874; petrol tax tyre tax £834. 1931: £69,097; £5645; £19,033 and £3771. The vital statistics for January as compared with January of 1931 were:— 1932- Births 216, deaths 95, marriage notices 80; marriages in office 23. 1931: 199, 97, 86, 15. FIGURES TOR DUNEDIN. INCREASE IN~CUSTOMS. Dunedin, Jan. 31. The vital statistics for the month ended to-day, were as follow, the figures for last year being given in Pa ßirths g 123 (115),‘ deaths 80 (60), marriages 53 (47). Customs returns for the month ended to-day amounted to £57,346 13s as compared with £48,051 11s Id for the corresponding period last year. Beer duty was £21,634 5s 2d as against £17,677 2s 2d. whilst the motor tyre tax totalled £5BB 5s lOd. as against £2412 6s 2d for the corresponding period of last year. The petrol tax amounted to £12,775 18s, compared with £10,953 3s 6d.
