GLIDING INSTRUCTION
WEEK-END ACTIVITIES. HERETAUNGA CLUB. Gliding instruction was again carried out by the Heretaunga Gliding Club at their training ground during the weekend, and though a choppy wind interfered to some extent with the day’s work, several pupils were put through the course. Some excellent landings were made, and in every instance tlie performance of those who took part showed that the club is making steady progress in its training. A pleasing feattiro was a visit from a number'of members of the Hawke’s Bay ami East Coast Aero Club who journeyed out by ear to watch the proceedings, in which they were obviously interested. Ono member, Mr. Guy Field, flew in tho club’s Spartan ’piano to the ground, on which ho landed Other, visitors also were present in pleasjngly.large numbers, and the club greatly welcomed this demonstration of increasing public interest. Three new members were enrolled, ami training will lio continued’ during the coming week-end. Not tho least interested in the club’s activities are the Maori hoys of Bridge Pa, who go to the club’s ground every week-end and voluntarily act as tail crew, carrying out the duties of controlling the glider before and after its ascent. They do their work with much delight, and are most useful supporterof the club. ’
