There was a very good attendance at the green on Saturday afternoon. The weather was cool aud the wind inclined to be troublesome. Au official rink from the Centre was present, the occasion being the handing over the District Shield to the Bluff Hill Club as winners for the 1931-32 season. A rink from the Napier club, last season's holders, was also present. The presentation was made by Mr H. Mayo, vicepresident, in the unavoidable absence of the president (Mr W. H. L. Williams). In the course of his speech Mr Mayo heartily congratulated the club on its win and mentioned that this was the fifth occasion on which Bluff Hill had won the shield. He regretted that under the present rules it was possible for a club to secure the shield with only two rinks playing, and he considered that a shield of such historic interest and intrinsic value, should be competed for by a larger number of rinks more truly representative of the various clubs. The presentation was followed by musical honours. Mr Triggs (president of Bluff Hill) briefly acknowledged the presentation and thanked the vice-presi-dent for his kind congratulations. Ho also thanked the members of the Centre and the Napier rink for their presence on the occasion. Proceedings finished' with cheers for the centre, Bluff Hill club and the ladies.
