SAN SALVADOR RISINGS MORE THAN 400 KILLED. COMMUNISTS PROVOKE DISORDERS. San Salvador, Jan. 24. Martial law has been declared throughout Salvador to put down the Communist uprisings, in which more than 400 have been killed. Communists provoked disorders in several towns in the interior. The Mayor, municipal secretary, local army commandant and a telegraphist were killed at Colon. Communists attacked the barracks at several places, troops firing and killing and wounding an undetermined number. DESTROYERS STANDING BY. Balboa, Jan. 24. The Canadian destroyers Skeena and Vancouver tire standing by at the port of Alcajuhl, on the coast of Salvador, to protect foreign lives and property in the Communist disturbance. THREATS AGAINST BANKS. NOT PUT INTO EFFECT. Washington, Jan. 24. The State Department’s report indicated that Communists planned au attack at San Salvador to loot British and American banks, but a despatch from the British Charge d 'Affaires this morning stated that up to that time tho capital had not been attacked.
