ST .PATRICK'S PLAY PETANE. MATCHES OVER WEEK-END. A friendly tennis match played during the week-end between the Petane Tennis Chib and St. Patrick’s resulted in a win for the latter, the sets being 12 all. St. Patrick's gained 119 games to the Petane Club’s 118. The weather was ideal and all participants thoroughly enjoyed the outing. The return match after Christmas is being eagerly anticipated. The return match will be eagerly looked forward to by both clubs. MATCHES IN AUSTRALIA. Melbourne, Dec, 6. New South Wales beat Victoria in the inter-State tennis by 15 to 6 rubbers. Hopman brilliantly defeated Crawford, 6 —3, 6 —2. S' i Australia beat Victoria by 14 to seven rubbers. In the women’s games Victoria beat New South W by seven to five rub bers. They also defeated South Aus tralia by eight to four rubbers.
