MUSIC ON THE AIR. PROGRAMMES FOR TO-NIGHT? 2YA, WELLINGTON.—H. Temple White, well known throughout New Zealand as organist, choirmaster, conductor, and adjudicator, is in charge of to-night’s programme. Mr White has chosen Sir Edward Elgar as his subject for the “Musical Portrait,’’ and his short talk on the composer will be illustrated by solos sung by Nellie Amies, contralto, W. Roy Hill, tenor, and two part songs sung by the Weeley Choir, while the orchestra, under the conductorship of Signor A. P. Truda, will play Elgar’s fine composition, “Crown of India.’’ The choir will also be heard in the famous “Prayer” (from “Moses in Egypt,’’ by Rossini) and “The Heavens are Telling’’ (from Haydn’s “Creation"). Two Mendels sohn quartets will be sung by The Harmonists, and numerous duets and solos will complete the programme. 3YA, CHRISTCHURCH—The important subject of “Present Dangers to European Peace" will be outlined by Mr R. M. Laing, MA., ,B.Sc., at 3YA at 7.30 p.m. Tho Christchurch Municipal Band and the Kaiapoi Male Choir combine in the evening’s concert programme, when thev will be supported by various vocal and instrumental soloists. Part songs such as Chwatal’s “Lovely Night," Lloyd’s “A Wet Sheet and a Flowing Sea," and Hatton’s “Warrior's Song" will be featured by the choir. The band will play Ketelby’s “Wedgewood Blue," Barnby’s “Sweet and Low," variations on Haydu’s wellknown “Emperor’s Hymn," and othei tuneful contributions. 4YA, DUNEDIN—At 7.40 p.m. tho commercial community and others will be interested to tune in and hear Mt J. W. Webb speak on “Character Analysis and Its Value in Business.” Midway in the usual weekly International Programme, a talk ou “International Aspects of Acclimatisation" will be delivered by Mr L. W. McCaskill, Lecturer in Agricultural Science.
