MATAWHERO STOCK SALE
FATS SHOW IMPROVEMENT. The weekly stock sale at the Matawhero yards was held on Friday, the features of the sale being a slight improvement in fat stock prices, and the small yarding of stores The pig market was very dull. Four good black and white weaners made 5/6; five good white slips, 8/-; eight good Tamworth and Berkshire weaners, 7/-; two Tamworth cross porkers, 18/-; 2 do.. 18/-; 5 small store Berkshires, 8/*; 4 Berkshire slips, 8/-; 6 do., 8/-; 4 do., small, 7/6; 4 good slips, 8/6; 4 do., 10/-; 5 do., 10/.; 6 slips, 11/6; 9 do., good, 11/-. FAT SHEEP. There was an entty of 636 fat sheep, including many prime quality heavy ewes. Compared with last sale, there was a small all-round improvement in prices. Best quality ewes sold from 5/- 5/8, and lighter ewes about 4/9; a few light wethers sold at 7/- and 8/Second grade ewes ranged from 4/3 to 4/9. Prices Ewes.—lo 3, prime and heavy, 5/6; 12, 4/10, 20, 5/4; 13, 4/7; 48, 5/1J 21, 5/3; 4, 4/5; 17, 4/6; 2 woolly, 6/9; 50, 5/6; 9, 5/-; 19, 5/4; 20. 5/6; 10. 4/9; 60, 5/3; 28, 5/7; 85, 5/-; 9 hoggets, woolly, 7/6; 8, f>/8; 5, 4/9. Wethers.—Three light, 7/-; one, light, 8/-. Second grade ewes.—2o, 4/3; 3, 4/9; 14, 4/6. STORE SHEEP. The entry of store sheep numbered only 554. Poor-conditioned ewes with lambs made 3/6, and a small pen of better class made 9/3. Four.tooth wethers rau from 7/4 to 8/9, and t*ovooths to 7/4. Ewes made &/■ for a pen of young sheep, full of condition; iwo-tooths made 5/-, and 2/6 and 3/was offering for old ewes. Prices:— Ewes with lambs.—l 69 poor condition, good mouthed and 158 mediumsized lambs 3/6; 5 good-mouthed ewes and 5 lambs, 9/3.
