LOSS OF POULTRY

EXPLOSION OF A HEATER. THIRD SIMILAR OUTBREAK. About 100 chicken* and 60 fowl* were burned to death when tho building in which they were housed at 17 Owairaka (formerly Vincent) Avenue, Owairaka, Auckland, caught fire at two o’clock on Thursday morning. About 20 other valuable birds, some of which had recently gained prizes at shows, were saved from two adjacent smaller fowlhouses. They were all owned by Mr. J. C. Nesfield. The exploding of on* of th* oilburners used to heat an incubator caused the fire. Two similar outbreak* occurred about eight weeks ago. Tu one case 100 and in the other 1000 chickens were destroyed.
