ALLEGED PERJURY

EX-AUCKLAND LAND AGENT CHARGED. COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. Sydney, Decfl 3. Charles Coward, land agent, formerly of Auckland, has been committed for trial on three charges of perjury arising out of his bankruptcy. Coward is now attorney in Australia for the Pacific Tobacco Industries of Australiasia, Ltd., which is registered in Auckland and has a large number of shareholders in the Dominion. This is the first time the Federal Crimes Act has been used to prosecute for perjury allegedly committed in bankruptcy jurisdiction. The inquiry occupied 17 days.
