GRAND CONCERT
BY GIRLS’ FRIENDLY SOCIETY
FOB UNEMPLOYMENT FUND. A very successful little concert .in the form of a gift evening was held on Tuesday evening in the G.F.S. room, which was crowed. Everyone brought a pound weight of some food commodity for the unemployment relief fund. Deaconess Holmes cordially thanked everyone who contributed, and also the performers for the very entertaining programme given. The decorations of pussy-willow and spring flowers made the room specially festive, and everyone present spent a very happy evening.. Community singing led by Miss Faubert added greatly to the entertainment. The following programme was given:—Pianoforte duet. Misses McCutcheon and Collins, Waltz Brilliant© and Spanish Dance: song. Miss Bullen, -Toselb’s Serenata and When the Swallows Homeward Fly; song. Mrs Budd, When’er a Snowflake Leaves the Sky. Lilac Tree, and Japanese Love Song; pianoforte solo, Miss Watson, Humoresque, by Rachmaninoff, and Alt Wien, by Godowsky; song, Miss Marshall, Oh Western Wind and Lie There My Lute; community sing, led by Miss Faubert; pianoforte solo, Miss Violet McGrath, Allegro from A flat Sonata, by Beethoven, and Paderewski’s Minuet; recitation, Miss Dorice Taylor, Nini. Ninette Ninon, and Hindoo’s Paradise ; song, Miss Tomlinson. Langb and Sing, and I Wonder if Love is a Dream; flute solo. Miss Enid Lushet (accompanied on piano by Miss McGrath), Heart’s Desire and Serenata ; God Save the King.
