PIGEON FLYING
NAPIER HOMING CLUB ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annual meeting of the Napier Homing Club was held last evening, Mr C C. Willis, presiding. There was a good attendance of members. The annuill report congratulated members on a very successful season, notwithstanding severe losses through the earthquake. Both the overseas and North Island events were well contested, the standard of performances being high. The balance sheet showed the club to be in a very satisfactory position. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: President, Mr F. Ormond; vice-president, Messrs E. Hanby, J. R. Kingsland, C. Price, S. Devonport, W. E. Barnard, M.P., Bromley Hill, James Patterson and L S. McClurg; honorary secretary, Mr W. 8. Strother; assistant secretary, Mr Maxwell; chairman, Mr H. B. Trubshoe. It was decided to commence the season on the second Saturday in Scpten.ber. Tre following trophies, won during the past season, were presented: McClurg Cup, most points in old and young bird interval races, Mr C. C. Willis; National Tobacco Company’s Cup, most points in old bird races. North and South Island, Mr A. Greenaway; O’Rourke Cup, moat points in young bird races, Mr A. Greenaway, won outright by four wins; C. C. Willis Cup, most points in young bird interval races, Mr Maxwell; Ormond Cup, most points in Picton, Christchurch, Timaru and Dunedin races. Messrs Smart and Davidson.
Hearty votes of thanks to the retiring chairman, office bearers and donors of prizes, and to Mr Greenaway for special assistance, were passed with acclamation.
