PAKURANGA HUNT MEETING. HAMPTON PARK GOES FAST. Although the weather was fine the going was holding, owing to recent heavy rain, at Ellerslie on Tuesday morning (states “Whalebone”). No. I grass track, with the poles about Bft out from the rails, was open for fast work, and the steeplechase course was also available. Gold Money was the first out, running six furlongs in 1.27 4-5 comfortably. Royal Gallant, Speedfast and Art Gallery did strong work over five furlongs, which they covered in 1.16 3-5. Restaurant and Semi-circle sprinted half a mile in 57 2-ss. There was little between them at the finish. Karangapni was going better than Excella Tea at the end of five furlongs, run in 1.7 1-5. The Jellicoe Handicap candidate Gay Cockade was allotted a round, which he completed in 1.56 4-5, the last six furlongs taking 1.21 3-5. This was the best effort of the morning over the distance. Manawhenua was several lengths in front of Baroscope at the finish of five furlongs, which took 1.6 3-5. The former had a lot tho best of the weights.

Catoma was allotted a round with Taneriri to assist him over the last six furlongs. The round occupied 1.59 1-5, and the final six furlongs 1.25. Catoma did his work impressively. The best sprint of the morning was registered by Hampton Park, who, carrying a light weight, ran half a mile in 50 4-ss. This was a first-class effort. Sir Vai was timed to run the last three furlongs of liis work in 41s.

Grand Spirit, Kouranui and Te Money were in that order at the end of six furlongs, in 1.23 1-5. Brown Prince and Desert Star were together at the end of six furlongs, which they easily accomplished in 1.28 1-5.

Great Emblem covered a similar distance m 1.26 1-5. Valsier and Malahat were together just ahead of Bennie at the conclusion of five furlongs, in 1.7 4-5.

Flying Prince was sent seven furlongs, alone, running the distance-in 1.34 3-5, the last five furlongs taking 1.8 2-5.

Royal Survey covered six furlongs, taking 1.9 for the last five. The jumpers, Billy Boy and Lenaubin, completed a round in 2.7 4-5, Royal Lad assisting them over the last six furlongs, which took 1.31 4-5. Importer and St. Lucas, after schooling, did strong wbrk over about a mile and a half, and completed their last round in 2.13 3-5. Clontarf Bill wont with them for tho greater part of the journey. Little Wonder and The Author completed a round in 2.8. the last six furlongs taking 1.31 2-5. Little Wonder pleased most. The Jumpers. General Lu (Burgess) and Land Measure (Olivo) led Night Comet I Sharkey) throughout a schooling task over four hurdles. They all jumped well. Importer (Sharkey) and, St. Lucas (Craddock) gave n safe display over the steeplechase fences on the flat. Town Beauty (H. Dtilieu) was allotted a similar task, giving a good exhibition. Royal Visitor (Thomson) and Soaramouche (McOovern) were sent over n round of the steeplechase course, both giving a good display, particitlarlv Royal Visitor, who has improved in his jumping and looks hotter than on his last appearance here.
