HOCKEY

HAWKE’S BAY ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING HELD. The annual meeting of the Hawke 's Day Hockey Association was held in the Drill Hall, Hastings, last evening. Present: Messrs. T. Redshaw (chairman), O. Hallett (hon. secretary), C. Simmonds (representing the Napier Sub-Association I, W. Lewis (Referees’ Association), L. Davis, A. Mahoney and B. Fulton (Hastings Sub-Association)' and F. F. Tomoana (Tamatea Sub-Association). An apology for absence was received from the retiring president, Mr. W. Nash. I

The secretary made a verbal report, in which he briefly outlined the past season’s activities, and mentioned the results of the various competitions and representative games. He stated that there was a small credit balance at the bank.

The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr. G. A. Maddison; president. Mr. H. Tupaca; hon. secretary, Mr. A. H. Doree; hon. treasurer, Mr. A. Mahoney; delegate to the N.Z. Hockey Association, Mr. W. Cowper; executive, delegates from the affiliated subassociations.

The appointment of a selector, or selection committee, was left, to the incoming executive. The Hastings Sub-Association were allocated the June 3 tourney, which will be held at Cornwall Park, Hastings. The issuing of challenges for the Norden Cup and arrangement: of other representative games was left to the executive to attend to. The affiliation fee was fixed at £1 1/-, the same as last year. The chairman made eulogistic reference to the wonderful and arduous service given the association by the retiring secretary, Mr. 0. Hallett. Other members endorsed the sentiments expressed ,and it was agreed that the honour of a life-membership of the association be conferred on Mr. Hallett.
