HAUMOANA.

(Own Correspondent.) The Clive Grange School opened last Monday with an attendance of 33 and by the end of the week it had reached 55. The roll number stanu, at 90. It was a strange thing that very few chimneys were brought down by the earthquake at Te Awanga and very little damage was done. There are a large number of people staying at this popular seaside resort. A few people have left Haumoana for a time, but there are many others who have come here to live. Cooking outside is the order of the day and families are still “tenting it.” The many friends of Mr. P. Palleson will be glad to hoar that ho is progressing favourably in the Palmerston Hospital. Much sympathy is exproesed with Mr and Mrs Venables in the loss of their son Stanley at the Napier Hospital at the time of the earthquake; also with Mr Jensen and family in the loss of wife and mother. Mr. Abbott, who was returning to relief work the other day, was run into by a motor-ear and had his foot crushed He is progressing satisfactorily in the Hamilton Hospital.
