THE PICTURE HOUSES
COSY DE LUXE
\ ictor McLaglen is, perhaps, not so rough and ribald i a “Un the Level,’’ Fox Movietone all-talking comedy drama, now playing at the Cosy Theatre, as. he was in “The Cock Eyed World” and “Hot For Paris,” but he is more amusing. There are moments, too, where he is drramatic, and the audience gets a new slant on his versatility. McLaglen appeal’s as a structural iron worker who indulges in a flirtation with a beautiful woman. She lures him into a rqal estate racket and he, in turn, rings hs fellow workers in on it. Before they escape from the swindle in which they find themselve® enmeshed, they exprience a medley of joys and sorrows. Lilyan Tushman, famous vamp of the screen, and William Harrigan, well-known stage actor, are featured with McLaglen in this production, directed by Irving Cummings. MUNICIPAL. For authenticity and genuine atmosphere, the Monte Carlo party staged as one of the sequences for “The Racketeer,’* Patho’s all-dia-logue production, starring Robert Armstrong and featuring Carol Lombard, at the Municipal Theatre, is the “real McCoy,” as they say in the underworld. The cast of “The Racketeer” includes, besides Mr Armstrong and Miss Lombard, Jeanette Loff, John Loder, Hedda Hopper. Paul Hurst, Kit Guard, and Al. Hill. It is an original story by Paul Gangelin with the dialogue bv A. A. Kline. “Paris Bound,” with the stage star, Ann Harding, is also shown.
