EXTENDING A HASTINGS SERVICE. Last night the Napier Borough Council, which is also the No. 8 Omnibus Licensing Authority, received advice from G. A. Frethy that he had bought one of the suburban ’buses with the only surviving suburban run. now operating between Russell street, Hastings and Mahora. from the Hastings Chequer Bus (.<. Ltd. He applied for an extension o. route from the corner of Frederick street and Pakowhai road to the corner of Pakowhai road ami Williams street, which was the borough boundary. The Chequer Bus Co. was quite agreeable to this. He further applied for the license of the discarded Hastings-Parkvale route lately run by the aforesaid company. He would be taking over the running on December 1 and would adhere to the present time-table, route and fares, until he received the council's apnroval of the revised time-table. The convening of the necessary Statutory meeting to deal with the application was left in the hands of the Mayor.
