HAWKE’S BAY CLUB MEETING.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The annual general meeting of the Hawke’s Buy Lawn Tennis Club was held last evening in the U.F.S. Dispensary Hall, and was presided over by Mr H. Bradley. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following were elected to take office during the forthcoming year:— Patron, Mr F. Logan; president, Mr H. Bradley; vice-presidents, Messrs J. Mason. T. H. Ringland, F. Ormond, F. N. Fussell, J. N. Lowry, and Doctors Waterworth and F. N. Harvey; hon. secretary, Mr 11. Fisk; bon. treasurer, Mr 1. 1). Mac Kay; hon. auditor, Mr H. C Thompson; committee, Messrs E. 1). Goldsmith. D. McCaskill, R. 11. Milburn, J. R Vautier. C. J Bagley, H. Jordan, and N. F. Simpson; delegates to the Hawke’s Bay Lawn Tennis Association, Messrs H. Fisk. H. Bradley, and E. 1). Goldsmith; ladies’ committee, Mesdames Hetlev. Gardinei, McCaskill, Milburn, Mawson. and’ Aliases N. Howell, Leithead, S. Aloorc, G. Williams, and F. Weber. Referring to the question of new giounds Mr C. J. Bagley intimated that he thought that no permanent tenure could be obtained in the proposed area of land in McLean Park, and that no action should be taken in regard to new courts in the meantime. After some discussion members present agreed that it would bo wise to let the matter stand. The chairman intimated that the courts would be open for play on October 25 if practicable, the matter being placed in the bands of the committee. It was decided that the first, round of the club Competition be played in the first week of December.
