NEWS AND NOTES. Yesterday afternoon in the HaveIdck North Village Hall the Girl Guides gave a party to celebrate the sth anniversary of the Brownie movement at Havelock. Several members of the Guide committee were present. During tho afternoon a “flying up” ceremony took place at which three Brownies were admitted into the Guido Company. The remainder of the afternoon was spent in country dancing and games and a very enjoyable hirthdav key and a large birthday cake bolding five candles added to the festivity of the occasion. Next Thursday afternoon the annual general meeting of the Havelock North Girl Guides committee will be held in the Town Board room: aw friend of the movement is cordially welcome. The monthly meeting of the Havelock North Women’s Institute will be held on the evening of Wednesday next when Mr. E. Douglas Tayler, Supervisor of Musical Education in New Zealand, will speak on the enjoyment of music and the artistic future of Now Zealand. Each Institute member may bring a friend of either sex.
