Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report that the Wairarapa has again been drawn upon for the nucleus of a new pedigree herd of Friesian cattle, the purchaser on this occasion being Mr. '£. Rice, of To Rehunga, Danneviyke. Mr. Rico secured eleven in calf two-year el l heifers, and a yearling bull from the well-known Ahikouka herd of Mr. O. A. Cadwallader, Greytown. The purchaser was attracted by Mr. Cadwallader’s herd, alike by the many great production records credited to it, and its splendid record in the show ring. The majoiity of the heifers were sired by Mr Cadwallader’s well-known show i.ud butterfat bred bulls, “Mooie Odmsby” (son of tho Manawatu champion, “Colony Champion Ormsby,” imported by Mr. Wm. Barton), and “Friens Mercedes Sarcastic Lad” (line bred to “Woodcrest Joe,” imported by the New Zealand Government). The dame of these heifers were sired by the famous breeding bull, “Dominion Dutchland,” sue of many famous producers and champions, including the three times North Island champion. “Jessie Monona Johanna of Oakview,” which produced 7261b5. fat as a junior two-year-old, and the four-year okl 8001 b. butterfat cow, “Buttercup 111. of Ashlyn,” which producer 1251b5. fat in ono month. These heifers arc in calf to “King Olga Ormsby.” Included amongst them is the grand-daughter of “China. Pietje Hope 13th.” which won tto Roval Championship at Invercargill last December, having been sold ry Mr. Cadwallader to a southern breeder to compete for that honom. Mr. Rice has undoubtedly rc-urid a splendid foundation for his s'.uu CLEARING sale. Messrs Gill Bros, report holding their usual wekly market sale on Saturday last They offered a good yarding and assortment of all classes of live and dead stock to a good and keen attendance of tLe public. Ihe following prices were realised :—Poultry: Table birds from 3s to 4s lOd, crossbred hens 3s 4d to 3s 9d, W.L. hens 3s to 3s lOd, 8.0. hens 3s |d to 4s 10<l.
