SMITHERAM TAKES THE COUNT PALMER WINS IN THE SIXTH. [Per' Press Association.! Nelson, August 4. In a professional fifteen round® boxing match on Saturday night, Dave Palmer 10.5 (Australia), knocked out Fred Smitheram 10-3 (Dunedin) in the sixth round. Smitheram won the first two rounds. H-B. AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS Entries for the H.B. Boxing Association’s amateur championships which are to be held in the Hastings Drill Hall on Thursday night next, will close with the secretary, Mr. J. Stickland Box 145, Hastings, at seven o’clock to-morrow night. Already several entries have been received from Wairoa and Waipawa. and it is expected that there will be a big batch from Hastings and the surrounding district. The entries should be sufficiently Jargfe to make a big night of sport. As the team to represent the association at the N.Z. amateur championships at Palmerston North will be selected immediately after Thursday night’s bouts, intending competitors should lose no time in getting in their entries.
