CHRISTCHURCH RETAILERS’ HARVEST. AT EXPENSE OF MOTORISTS. IPer Press Association.] Christchurch, Augsut 4. Retailers of petrol in Christchurch are reaping a good harvest at the expense of motorists. Their profit is one penny a gallon more than they made before the imposition of the additional tax.
Oil companies, it-is stated, have notified retailers that the price of bulk petrol will be advanced by twopence a gallon, they having agreed to bear one penny of the extra tax. Despite that, the retailers are selling at 2s Id and 2s, instead of at 2s and Is Hd.
