“KITCHEN” TEA

FOR A HAVELOCK NORTH BRIDE. A very pleasant “kitchen” tea was given in honour of Miss Joy Lawson, of Havelock North, by Mrs H. B. Tennent, of Duart road. A happy time was spent, everyone finding that writing a limerick about their right-hand neighbour was very amusing, and pianoforte selections played by Miss Faith Gardiner were uiuch appreciated. Miss Gwen Tennent, dressed in Maori costume, delighted everyone with her Moir poi dances.

Tho rooms were very brightly decorated with bowls of beautiful early yellow wattle, and in the diningroom a delicious tea was served. After tea, the very attractive pile of parcels were ojiened in tho draw-ing-room. and almost erything neded in a kitchen was found to have been given. There were pyrex dishes, jugs, tea towels, egg-beaters, and every sort of handy pot and pan that a bride wishes for. Mrs Tennent wore a becoming frock of electric-blue panne velvet, with pastel-green cuffs and collar. Miss Gwen Tennent was in a pretty floral art silk dress. Mrs Lawson wore a blue dress covered with a smart black coat. Miss Lawson was wearing a pink frock of art silk, and a blue coat with grey fur cuffs and collar. The guest of honour. Miss Joy Lawson, was in a smart beige ensemble.
