IPor Press Association.) Henry George Daniel Burgess. engaged in tree felling at Mayfield, Canterbury, was killed this morning when a tree hauled down by a tractor fell across him. He Laves a widow and four young children.

Because he had been accused of putting his arm about the wife of the taau lor whom he was temporarily working Erie Owen Dwight, aged 19, became moodv and yesterday told his mother that he had drunk a bottle of poison. He was taken tp the Auckland Hospital and died early this morning.

An open verdict was returned by the coroner, Mr. E. D. Mosley, 8.M., at the inquest held at Rangfora yesterday into the death of Samiltl Hamilton Wilson, whose remains were found in the debris of his house at Sefton, which was burned down on July 30. Constable Smith said that ho went to the scene of the fire and searched amongst the debris. Under three sheet/ of iron he found Wilson’s charred remains. After removing thbm he made further search and recovered a carving knife. The coroner said that he could not bring in a verdict on a rumour but only on the evidence before him. Even if it had been found that the knife was covered with human blood it Would not throw much light on the matter. “There is no evidence to show how Wilson came by his death,” said the coroner, “but his charred remains wLro found in tho debris of his house, which was burned down."
