Sir Joseph Ward’s condition is uh changed and ho maintains a slight improvement.
Dr. Preston, who has been staying at Hillsbrook, left yesterday for Tauranga.
Mr W. W. Adams, superintendent of Hastings Reserves, l.as been confined to his bed for a few days, but is progressing favourably.
The death occurred suddenly yesterday in Wellington of Mr John Mcllraith, the well-known provision, wine and spirit merchant.
The King of Spain has arrived in London on a private visit, to London. Ho was mot by the Prince of Wales on behalf of the King.
Mr A. E. Bedford;was yesterday unanimously ro-elected chairman of the Parko Island committee. Members spoke in appreciative terms of Mr Bodford’s services.
Mrs E. J. Adams, of Charles street t Hastings, loft by the mail train this morning for Wellington, en route for England on a visit to her son, Mr J. M. Adams, A.1.A.5., M. Inst., H.E.
Captain J. K. Davis is not returning with the Mawsou Antarctic Expedition in October. The Discovery will be commanded by the former chief officer, Mr McKenzie Canberra I’.A. cable.
