DR. MARSDEN’S MISSION. CONFERENCE IN LONDON. Well.ngton, Juno 12. The Government has decided to send Dr E. Marsden. D.Sc., secretary of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, to England to attend important research conferences to be held in conjunction with the Imperial Conference. Dr. Marsden will leave for London about the middle of next month. In announcing this the Prime Alinister (the Hon. G. W. At the present time New Zealand was receiving from the Empire Marketing Board useful subsidies and grants, and as further activities in this direction were to be determined it was essential that Dr. Marsden be present to watch New Zealand’s interests and make' the best arrangements possible for co-operation and assistance.

It is understood that Dr. Marsden is leaving New Zealand early in order to attend the opening of the first preliminary conferences, that financed and convened by the Empire Marketing Board to deal with highly important questions affecting wool. At this conference Dr. Marsden will have associated with him Mr D. K. Following the wool conference Dr. Marsden will be available in an advistory capacity to-attend the other research conferences to be held in connection with the Imperial Conference. Among the subjects to be considered is that of meat, cheese and fruit transportation.
