N.Z. CONSTITUTION

IMPORTANT changes SUGGESTED. TOO MANY ADMINISTRATORS. Hamilton, June 11. “Speaking at tho Central Power Board’s luncheon to-day, Mr W. Lee Martin. M.P.. in replying to the toast of *Members of Parliament,” stated that in the interests of the country it was advisable to make a change in tho system of Government. The Upper . House should be done away with and the membership of the Louver House reduced. Instead of a large number of members sitting in the House of Representatives, half would suffice for the country’s needs. Three members for Auckland would accomplish more than eleven at present. The question of party should not arise in cases of finance, as that was a national subject. If there were less of party business in Parliament, there would be less difficulties encountered. The party system should be abolished and every man stand for himself on his merits.
