SCHOOL BURNT

IN THE THAMES DISTRICT. [Per Press Association.) Thames, June 12. Fire in Thames at 5 o’clock this morning completely destroyed the Hikutai School. This is the second fire nt the township this week, as Rehm’s house and grocery was burnt on Tuesday night. A tablet porter, A. T. Capper, saw the reflection, but thought it was rubbish burning; later, seeing it was the school, he ran a quarter of n mile, and gave the alarm, arousing schoolmaster, Mr I l ’.. Turner, who lived next door. As there was no water supply, the place was completely destroyed. Rehm and bis family were staying, at Mr Turner’s, and their car, which vas parked alongside the school, was also destroyed. It was insured for £250. The school was uninsured. Turner lost books valued at £315. and the pupils lost most of their school books.
