ASSOCIATION MEETS. BOUT FOR MIDDLE-WEIGHT TITLE. A meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Boxing Association was held in last evening, when Mr A. M. Brome presided. The bout between Artie Hay. of Hastings, and Phin. Stone, of Wellington, was definitely fixed for June 26 at Hastings. The New Zealand Boxing Council advised that it could not sanction the light-heavyweight title being at stake, but had no objection to Stone challenging for middle-weight honours. Both boxers having agreed to this, the association decided to make the bout a championship one for the middle-weight title. The following preliminary amateur bouts were arranged:—Hearn (Wairarapa) v. Thompson (Hastings); Probert (Hastings) v. Bennie (’Napier) ; Taylor (Hastings), v. Gordon (Napier), and R. Hutchinson (Hastings) v. Evans (Napier). Special lighting over the ring is to be arranged, with a view to eliminating the glare that has troubled boxers in the past, Mr R. McKenzie, of the Ritz Tea Rooms, again extended an invitation to the boxers and members of the Association to supper after the big bout on June 26. It was reported that the new* rooms in Russell street had been altered to provide cluh and training quarters for amateurs.
