The professional musicians of Christchurch have decided to form themselves into an orchestra which could give public performances, the proceeds either to be divided among the players or to go to a fund for file assistance of those musicians placed in straitened circumstances by lack of engagements due to the introduction of talkies. A representative meeting of instrumentalists elected a strong committee to control the orchestra, mid it was decided that there bo two orchestras—one to give public performances, Hie other (a small one) io piny chamber 1 music.
