DRY-FEEDING PIGS

AMERICAN EXPERIMENT. Wo have not heard much of the dry feeding of pigs in recent years, but the subject has cropped up again in America and a number of experiments have been made at several of the animal husbandry centres. In a series of experiments at the Minnesota University the conclusions arrived at were-

(1) Slop-fed pigs made a little more rapid gain than the dry-fed lots. (2) The dry-fed pigs, although slightly slower in making weight, made more economical use of the food, the cost of foods working out at £1 3/3 per 1001 b. liveweight as against £1 5/2} for the wet-fed pigs.
