NEED FOR LARGER GRANTS.
(Per Press Association.] Auckland, March 7. The Conference of the Libraries Association of New Zealand resolved to urge the Government favour ably to consider increasing the free grant to libraries by permitting the subsidy being made available t> libraries in a borough where tho population does not exceed 3006 instead of the present 1500. The question of the proposed Imperial Librarians’ Conference, the first to Iks held in New Zealand, put forward by the president. Miss Melville. was referred to the incoming executive.
It was decided to hold the next conference at Timaru. Mr G. B. Benstead, of Timaru. was elected president, mid Mr J. Norrie hon. secretary and treasurer.
