STORTFORD LODGE SALE. The associated auctioneers report having held their usual weekly sale of sheep and cattle at Stortford Lodge yesterday. There was a small yarding of cattle and a large yarding of sheep, the market being distinctly easier than at the last sale. There was only a medium attendance of buyers. WESTFIELD MARKET. Auckland, March 5. At Westfield beef was penned in more than usual numbers, cow beef predominating. There was a falling off in demand and values for all classes were easier, extra heavyweight ox and cow beef being affected most Extra choice ox sold at £2 per lOOlbs., choice and prime £1 7/- to £1 9/-, ordinary and plain £1 14/- to £1 16/-, prime young cow aad heifer beef £1 12/- to £1 14/-, ordinary cow beef £1 9/- to £1 11/-, extra heavy prime steers £l7 to £l9 5/-, heavy prime £l5 to £l6 10/-, lighter prime £l4 to £l4 17/6, light prime £l2 10/- to £l3 15/-, unfinished and small £lO to £l2 5/-, extra heavy prime young cows and heifers £lO to £l2, heavy prime £8 15/- to £9 15/-. lighter £7 10/- to £8 10/-, light £6 10/- to £7 7/6, other cows £5 to £6 7/6.
Sheep were penned in average numbers and sold readily at late rates. Heavy prime wethers £1 8/to £1 9/-, medium prime £1 6/9 to £1 7/9, light prime £1 5/- to £1 6/6, small and unfinished £1 2/9 to £1 4/9, heavy prime ewes £1 to £1 i/-, medium prime 18/6 to 19/9, light prime 16/- to 18/-, inferiorly fatted 10/- upwards. Lambs were penned in average numbers and sold at late quotations. Prime quality 19/- to £1 5/6. unfinished lambs 12/6 upwards. Pigs were penned in average numbers and again drew strong competition in all classes. Values improved slightly on last week. Choppers £2 10- to £5 3 -, heavy and medium baconers £4 to £4 17/-, light baconors and heavy porkers £3 to £3 19/-,
medium porkers and light porkers £2 5/- to £2 19/-. Store pigs sold readily. Large stores £1 10/- to £1 19/-, slips £1 3/- to £1 9/-, weaners 13/- to 22/-.
Calves were penned in average numbers, and although there was a steady demand values were inclined to be easier Runners made £6 to £ll 7/6, heavy vealers £4 to £4 17/-, medium £3 to £3 18/-, light £2 to £2 19/-, smaller £1 5/- to £1 19/-, small and fresh dropped 3/- to 10/-, rough calves £1 to £1 17/-.
