EXPORT FRUIT SHED.
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—The majority of f were very pleased to see “Exporter’s” letter of protest last night. The treatment meted out to about 90 per cent .of the growers by a mere 10 per cent, is becoming intolerable and if matters do not mend, 1 think a vote of “no-confidence” is about due. The Control Board says this, the Federation says something else, and the inspector says “Do what I say,” and so the poor grower is pushed from pillar to post in trying to please everyone. Does any one of these heads ever stop to wonder who is paying their salaries and giving them a living? This shed was whisked on to the growers and they were never given a chance to turn down the scheme. When all arrangements had been made, and the money arranged for, a meeting was called in the promoters’ stronghold, Havelock North. Why should this state of affairs be allowed to exist? When are the growers going to combine? All my sympathies are with tho Parents’ League, but 1 can guarantee that whatever they say or do, that shed is there to stop, because 10 per cent, of the growers want it, while the 90 per cent, have to dip down and help pay for something, they don’t want and which is not required. The orchard is the place for the inspector to pass our export fruit. —I am. etc., ' FED-UP. Hastings. 5/3/30.
