WILL SOMEONE HELP?

Sir, —For some time past I have been trying to find a suitable job for a returned soldier, who has gone through two wars and given many years of his life to service in the Army. He was born in 1871, enlisted at 18 years of age in the K.R.R.C , and served continuously util 1902, during which time his regiment was engaged in the Boer War. In August, 1915, ho enlisted at Trentham and soldiered until January, 1918, when he was discharged as “being no longer physically lit ioi war service on account of preenlistment disability aggravated by active service.” llis service abroad during the Great War lasted for two years and five days. He receives a small permanent pension, which is totally inadequate to maintain himself and his wife, aud for many months he has been unable to obtain any work other than an occasional casual job. The veteran is a healthylooking and intelligent man, has done work in wool stores, gardening, etc., and can turn his hand to most things which do not involve heavy manual labour. May 1 appeal to your readers, Mr Editor, on behalf of this man, who .surely has earned the right to work by many years of service in his country’s forces, and who joined up as a voluneer lor the Great War at 44 years of age? J have his military papers and shall be pleased to supply all necessary information to anyone able to give the soldier all he seeks—work. W. E. BARNARD. Napier, March 5, 1930.
