Rftgby, March 4
The “Manchester uuardian” says that tl.e acquisition by the Southern Railway of an interest in Imperial Airways will probably prove tile first step toward closer ec-uperation between ail railway companies and air lines.
Negotiations are now going on between railway groups and transChannel air concerns with a view to coming to a definite agreement on the subject of the transport of mails and parcels from all parts of Britain to places abroad. The present negotiations are similar m character and purpose to those which have resulted in railway companies obtaining interests in many of the important road transport concerns. The “Guardian” adds that what is foreshadowed is development which would m the end link up road, rail and air in a network of communications.
