DISCOVERY SHORT OF FUEL

MAKING FOB AUSTRALIA. [United Pre«B Association—By CableCopyright.] (Received 6, 10.55 a.m.) Sydney, Mar. 5. Sir Douglas Mawson’s ship Discovery arrives at Albany, Western Australia, about March 24th. The vessel ran short of coal and was forced to go to Kerguelen Island to re-fuel. It is believed that Mawson decided that there was not time to get back to the Antarctic and get out again before the ice closed.
